When I was asked to do a quick reflection on John 3:13-17 verses of the scripture. I believe it's one of the most captivating passage of the Bible. In fact it's the foundation block for our Christianity experience. Verse 16 ring bell every time a preacher mount the pulpit. It's the focal message of every evangelist. Soul winning is centred around these verse.
I will like to point us to one important focus of this scripture which many teachers and pastors are probably not getting right and thus many souls are hardened to the message of our Gospel. Let's check the scripture:
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:13-17 KJV
The first verse here clearly point out the fact the only Jesus Christ knew the whole truth and the mind of God concerning mankind. There is usually this kind of mindset common among Christians nowadays. The believe that we are righteous. Very true we are righteous. But there is a subtle satanic trick to make us acts holier than thou. I mean human fleshly righteousness by which we quickly condemned others we assumed are unbelievers or who are not up to us in faith. We are quick to preach messages of damnation not that of salvation. Please brethren let us know that only the person who came from above know the detail of every man's life. That criminal, prostitute, drunkard, witches and wizards your hated so much. Do you know the plan of God for that life. Just as Israel was under the judgement of God and they were attacks by the serpent. Many people of God we daily criticised might have truly sin against God and are under attack from that ancient serpent; the Devil. Our divine purpose brethren is to lift the Cross of Jesus up for their rescue not messages of condemnation.
If Cross is lifted, men are saved. But if sin is lifted men are destroyed. Reminding sinners of how terrible they are is not Gospel. Telling them how the son of man was raised on the Cross to deliver them from the ancient serpent is the Gospel Sir and Ma. This is simply the whole essence of verse 16. Even God; the recipient every of man's wickedness did not focus on our sin. His focus was on our restoration. By Laws men were constantly reminded about sin. But the memory keep leading to more and more sins.
By the Cross through Grace, God set aside memory of sin and places focus on His begotten son Jesus Christ. That action forever wipe away memory of sin. If we approach every sinners with the spirit of Grace. Focusing them to the Cross will be of more concern than their sins.
The last verse of our reflection clearly defines how true gospel must be preached. True Gospel as pleasing unto God doesn't condemn sinners.
True Gospel pleasing to God focuses on lifting the Cross not lifting the sins.
True Gospel pleasing to God centres around salvation of souls. Sinners become more and more hardened when they are condemn. No wonder our messages doesn't even change us talk less of changing the world. The journey to the Cross only brought condemnation to Jesus Christ but mercy, grace and love of God to all mankind. How then can will effectively win souls if our words and messages are reflection of laws. How do we think making someone guilty of evil action will deliver his soul? We've taken over the responsibility of Holy Spirit who convict of sins. When Holy Spirit convict salvation happens. When man convict sinners condemnation happens. Let's be careful not to make sinners more hell bound instead of getting them to salvation. Our messages means a lot.
Someone may ask how will they know if we didn't tell them about their sin. Brethren, No man need to be told about the state of his soul. We all are under daily surveillance of the Holy Spirit either as a saint or sinner. God is interested in every of mankind. Sinners know who they are before God. All God want from us is to point them to the Cross.
