The word annihilation mean complete destruction or extinction of something.
It should be noted here that for all Christians, our primary enemy is the Satan and his host of demons. Like scripture says we wrestles not against flesh and blood.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:10-12 KJV
So whenever we talk or think of the wicked one, our target or focus should be kingdom of darkness and not men.
Many at time we misinterpreted our fellow human as the wicked. The truth is that there are always spiritual power backing every actions and activities of men. For Christian it is power of God while non christian operates by the satanic power. This is why dealing with wicked man should be about wicked spirit behind his action.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
1 John 3:8 KJV
Even though Jesus recognized that sinners/wicked men belong to devil, His focus was to address the root cause of their wickedness/sin which is the work of Devil.
From the above submission I will say annihilation of wickedness is putting a complete end or destruction to works of the devil. This is the purpose of Jesus coming to the earth to completely deliver us the wicked men from spirit of wickedness. We are all wicked to God in our sinful state. The activities of Jesus is to annihilate evil from our lives. He came to give life in abundance.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV
One thing of note is that Satan himself cannot be annihilated or be completely destroyed now. That was why Jesus Christ didn't say I've come to destroy Satan. No he never said that. His focus was annihilation of the works of devil. We can annihilate wickedness of the devil but not the wicked devil. The final judgement and day of complete destruction of Devil is already a concluded agenda by God. But that cannot happen until the second coming of Jesus Christ.
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelation 20:10 KJV
So brethren, sometimes it is fruitless praying with the mindset to annihilate the devil. We don't have that authority. But we have full authority to annihilate the works of devil.
Focus on annihilating the wickedness of the wicked. Whenever we pray about someone practising wickedness. We can either save the person from the wicked spirit while the spirit fled. This should be our aim always. But if the person will not yield; he/she could rather choose to submit the soul to devil. At that point we won't be termed murderer because our focus wasn't about his/her death.
Many of us are turning spiritual murderers in the name of annihilation of the wicked. Why because we never approach God with compassionate spirit to free our fellow human from their wickedness. We want them dead as wicked. Jesus came that non should perish, but that all might have life. You might say some people are irredeemable. That may be true, but let God be the judge of that. You and myself don't have power and responsibility to determine who should be damn.
Let us focus on annihilation of wickedness rather than the wicked. We are given power over all the powers of the enemy. In other word we are empowered to completely destroy wickedness. But just remember you and I cannot annihilate devil(the wicked) for that will happen as the final judgement but we are here just like Jesus Christ to annihilate wickedness. We are here to bring God's kingdom on earth. To undo the bounds of the wicked and to set the captives free. To proclaim liberty for the oppressed and opening of prison that all may find the peace and rest of God.
