Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 KJV.
One important fact about letters of Apostle Paul is that they are specific to certain group of people based on what their actions and activities during his evangelical visit.
It's true that we can equally adopt the teachings in our days. But we must try to compare scripture with scriptures before we come to conclusion about spiritual matters. Taking few verses as doctrine without searching out more of God is the root course of so many wrong teaching in our churches.
Even though the era of law is gone and we are now in the time of grace through faith. Many churches foundation and teachings are still rigidly rooted in Laws.
To address this question of whether a woman should speak(teach, pastor, lead prayer, occupy place of authority for divine purpose) in Church. We must first identify that Apostle Paul said something very important in vs 34 AS ALSO SAITH THE LAW. The law according to Moses doesn't allow women priesthood. This is basically to ensure that women are actively committed to their Godly ordained role of helpmates to their husbands. But during the same dispensation of law, we could see record of exploits of Deborah when men are not available for God. The question again is are we under law?
I will like to say, Paul admonished the Corinthians that way because their women probably usurped the authority of the men as a result of the spiritual empowerment and gifts in them. This is the error of gender equality.
God want all of us both man and woman to manifest as people of faith. But doing that as wives must be under the authority of our husbands. Manifestation of power in church by a wife whose husband is not her teacher is an error. What Paul was saying in essence is that women should be students of the priests(husbands) at home for them to gain more understanding to become available and fruitful in the church service.
Let me show us why it is wrong Gospel for anyone to preach women should keep quiet in the church. It is simply misinterpretation of Apostle Paul's message.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:24-28 KJV
Brethren, we as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ have graduated from the school of law to the school of Grace through faith. Although the law made disparity between men and women, the message of salvation through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ clearly declare all of us as one with Jesus Christ. No more gender. Male and female as one with God. Every Christian must understand that we are no longer gender people. But we are one body, share one faith, have one Lord. Each of us represent Jesus Christ as individual and collectively as Church of God. No man nor woman.
With this knowledge from scripture, how then can someone say a woman should not speak in Church. Whoever takes leadership at any Christian gathering is standing as Jesus Christ Oracle not as gender entity. Let us correct this erroneous doctrine so that more women can wake to their spiritual identity and ministry as not ordinary woman but as Christ himself teaching and leading the Church.
The only reason women must not take such role as Royal Priesthood is when they are disobedience to their husbands. When they are not submissive and teachable by their husband. Home Priests(husbands) must be honoured and Christian women must speak as Christ lead them. No keeping quiet by women why souls perish in hell. It is wrong doctrine by Satan to stop women spiritual potentials. Together we must stop the wrong Gospels and deliberate let people know the Truth.
