The Gospel as it's being preached today portrays more of comfort, materialism and full satisfaction. Neglecting the place of Afflictions and responsibility of bearing our cross to follow Jesus Christ. Many faithful Christian today are living in shame, humiliation and termed sinners just because there are no worldly standard evidences of their faith in God. Many quickly turn back to Egypt because those who invited them to journey along to Canaan never told them there will be valleys and shadows of death through which only continuous focus on God is the way out. Acceptability in Church is so much characterized by financial and material possession that average and growing believers focus has been shifted from trust in God to trust in only what He can do. The Church of acts, signs and wonders but not of the ways, fellowship and love of God.
Historically the Apostolic Church began after the ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ to heaven with a great commission mandate to all believers. Incidentally this call to service of the Lord for the restoration of mankind back to fellowship with God is beclouded with affliction, tribulation and all manner of untold hardships. But our preaching today negate what was passed down to us by the Apostles and Saints.
Are you righteous, faithful and love God, but your head is bowed in shame and you can't associate with the present Church? Let me show you how precious you are to God and the reason why your faith in God must not be the way the world want it but the way it can constantly please God.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 KJV
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
Psalms 34:19 KJV
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
Luke 12:15-21 KJV
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9, 16-18 KJV.
These scriptures and more from the word of God must surely be fulfilled in any Christian life. The truth is many who labour like the rich fool will always intimidate you and want you to forsake Christ for an alternative. But remember the joy of restoration which await you only if you wait until the light affliction is over. When you're in tune with God, just remain there with Him because your pain will soon be gone. Know this; those who call you sinner because they are waiting to see the acts of God are far below your level when you have reached unto knowledge of His ways. Rejoice in tribulation and wait for your salvation.
Note: Faith in God may not always deliver financial and material possessions. Faith is actually that character that landed poor Lazarus in Abraham's bosom. Don't ask me how. That peace and joy of salvation in you is the key.
