Question: Are we still in the era of the Holy Spirit and Apostolic doctrines?
Text: Act 2:41-47, 4:31-37
Then those who accepted what Peter said were baptized. On that day about 3000 people were added to the group of believers. The believers spent their time listening to the teaching of the apostles. They shared everything with each other. They ate together and prayed together. Many wonders and miraculous signs were happening through the apostles, and everyone felt great respect for God. All the believers stayed together and shared everything. They sold their land and the things they owned. Then they divided the money and gave it to those who needed it. The believers shared a common purpose, and every day they spent much of their time together in the Temple area. They also ate together in their homes. They were happy to share their food and ate with joyful hearts. The believers praised God and were respected by all the people. More and more people were being saved every day, and the Lord was adding them to their group.
Acts 2:41-47 ERV
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need. And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
Acts 4:31-37 KJV.
The global practice in Church today; Africa in particular leave true believers in the school of bible and discipleship with many questions. One of such is the kind of unity in the body of Christ as touching the welfare of the brethren. The apostolic conduct after the outpour of the Holy Spirit in Act 1:8 gave birth to the church whose major concern was togetherness in worship to God, prayers, fellowship with brethren, welfare of every member of the body of Christ, testimonies of exploits and persecutions endured for the sake of the Gospel.
Contrast with our modern Church, A lot of present practices never reflect any of these foundation principles of faith. It's evidence in most of our gathering that when people cried to God for power or anointing, It was never for to witness in Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria and the utmost part of the earth but for money and material gain. A Church that focused on the prosperity of flesh more than spirit. Where Mormon(money) is the only evidence of faith and qualification for priesthood.
When Apostolic Christian talked about money and resources, their mindset was to gathered from the rich and those with little in the spirit of oneness, simplicity, gladness of heart and assurance of non should lack anything. Nobody counted themselves as super intelligence, privileged and better than another. But the modern Church rather prefers the doctrine of Ananias and Sapphira characterized by self-centered, wicked people trampling on fellow brethren. Church where many are praying and fasting for feeding money which God has put in the hand of a brethren who choose to be evil. Many rich Pastors of poor flocks with millions of God bless you messages. Equally some stinkingly wealthy member who see Pastoring as lazy and unintelligent. Why have we all forgotten that God counted this as sin against the Holy Spirit and that it sent two born again brethren Ananias and Sapphira to hell.
Peter said, “Ananias, why did you let Satan fill your mind with such an idea? You kept part of the money for yourself and lied about it to the Holy Spirit! Peter said to her, “Tell me how much money you got for your field. Was it this much?” Sapphira answered, “Yes, that was all we got for the field.” Peter said to her, “Why did you and your husband agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Listen! Do you hear those footsteps? The men who buried your husband are at the door. They will carry you out in the same way.”
Acts 5:3, 8-9 ERV.
How do we expect God who kill some under the new testament era because of greediness overlooked the same error and wickedness in a greater degree than formal? No wonder many are dead spiritually but still occupied high place in the synagogue. A church built by hand why the real body of Christ are in so much pain and solitary. When will the wealthy in church learn that my brethren prayer should not be about money rather a prayer of genuine concern for souls still in captivity of sin. When are we going to have a church when men will be dead to materialism and awake to righteousness? When will the rich fools learn that if God demand their soul now, heaven is not the destination? When will Modern Church remember that its suppose to be Apostolic Church.
Note: If love of money is the root of all evil; and money is a defense. Your holding unto excess is evil because that is the reason many brethren remained defenseless.
