If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. John 15:18-21 KJV
The new nature we got when we gave our lives to Christ set us at war with the devil and the hosts of darkness. Unfortunately, the manifestation of satanic actions against us will come through men. The reason is simply because the spirit of the world is different from Holy Spirit who now residence inside us. Our Lord is in this scriptures giving us assurance that it is normal we experience such. In fact that is the true confirmation of our spiritual identity.
A man that is not at war with Satan is not yet born again. Jesus reminded us about the troubles, pain, hatred He faced from men. Please know that Satan can use anybody to fight true saints of God. It was the synagogue leaders who acted as Devil with so much hatred for Jesus Christ. I was teaching one Sunday and I told the people of God that Satan will not come physically and ask any man to follow him to hell. He will always use another man.
I love what Jesus said "The servant is not greater than his Lord" Many of us foolishness think Christianity is a call to enjoyment lifestyle of the world. We keep romancing devil because we are not ready for affliction of the saints. Not ready to forsake worldly pleasure for heaven gain. We quickly fall into sin at slight flash of temptation. Why because we were told that Christians are to enjoy and inherit the earth. Jesus said servant is not greater than master. In other words if they hated him, they must hate us. If they afflicted Him, they must do to us. If they persecuted Him, we shall be persecuted. If they killed Him, we are foolish to commit sin because we are afraid of death. The bible says we should not be afraid of those who can only kill the flesh but not the spirit. But rather we should be afraid of God who can kill both in hell fire.
Hatred of the world is the confirmation of our walk with God. The moment the world get comfortable around us as we have it in Christianity today. We are not likely in true love relationship with our Father. They must hate us deeply while we love them deeply. Do you know we Christians now are so timid that little shaking from anyone; we easily lose our faith. The Apostle of old confessed the agony they went through just because they accepted Jesus Christ. But we are not ready for anything of such.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35-39 KJV
How many of us can make this type of confession of faith in this generation. Our generation was so lucky that we are not subjected to the kind of hatred suffered by the early christians. Yet we compromised as if God is joking with us. We hide behind grace to sin as if Apostle Paul never knew about grace. The bible warn us severely not to conform with the world. But we daily do contrary. The most terrible part is that we are not even showing any concern for our helplessness rather we hypocritically walk around as if all is well. "God understand" is our usual language. "God understand Christianity" is an excuse for unrepentant Christians. The danger of it is damnation.
In conclusion, the reason why we suffered hatred from the world is simply because we belong to God. For every dose of suffering/hatred/persecution is converted to far weight of glory if only we can endure until the end.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and weternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 KJV
Whatever we may suffer from the world, God called it a light affliction. In fact the more afflictions we endure for Christ, the more likely our eternal weight of glory. No wonder the man Lazarus was in the bosom of Abraham. No wonder Joseph, Job, Daniel, 3 Hebrew boys, Moses etc enjoyed great glory after they were victorious from the world that hated them. Even while Steven was stoned, all he could see is the glory of God. Hatred by the world is true evidence of our heavenly acceptance. If our Lord overcame, we too shall overcome. But we must stop thinking that friendship with the world is the easy way out. God will deliver us from all evils. Amen
