There is spiritual as well as physical documentation of every man deeds. The books which contain these events is what I termed " THE RECORD OF DEEDS.
Many people are living carelessly in this world not taking to account that all actions and inactions have records.
We shall look at these record in 2 perspectives:
1. Physical records also called chronicles.
2. Spiritual records.
Many will enjoy the earth as a result of record of their deeds or that of the forefathers. While many will similarly suffer on earth due to their deeds or that of the generations before. Many will enjoy great rewards in heaven while others will face terrible judgement in hell. All as a result of record of their deeds. Let us quickly examine the physical records. It was also referred to as book of chronicles of kings.
PHYSICAL RECORDS
Generally speaking our experience here on earth can be better or bitter depending on what people see about our activities. Our works and relationship with men means a lot to God in given us our physical blessings. Let us check examples from scripture and as we begin to follow the ancient part. This is a very familiar story about Esther, Mordecai and salvation of Jews from Haman's trap. As interesting as this story was, the victory was won by the good deed of Mordecai. When there is need for divine reward of good works here on earth, the kings and the nobles will definitely lose their sleeps. When time for deliverance of godly people comes, the government of this world will surely become restless. But when that happens, the records of deeds is what will make the difference. Also, when the cup of the wicked is full, when ungodly are making evil plans for the Godly. The key to destruction of the enemies is the record of deeds. The same record that reward Mordecai bountifully, saved the Jew. Same record end the generations of Haman. The life of Dorcas was another example of how record of deeds can save from sickness and death.
Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. Acts 9:36-37,39 KJV.
Dorcas was so useful to her generation that even untimely death couldn't take her away from them. She was so resourceful, helping, and generous. People are not concerned about how many services Dorcas attended, no record of even her prayer role in church. But her good deed was what speak out from people who are recipient of her good works. Also remember king Hezekiah who was bold to defiled great prophecy directly from most accurate and noble prophet of his time. Just by presenting record of his deeds, he earned extra 15yrs lifespan.The record of deeds extend blessings to children and children children. 2 Sam 9:1-14 testified about unmerited favour enjoyed by Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan friend of King David. In God's agenda the whole family of king Saul had been condemned to death. But record of good deeds of Jonathan delivered his son Mephibosheth. Even in his deformed state, he enjoyed royalty. Brethren good deeds are rewarding here on earth. To gain freedom from poverty and be honoured like Mordecai, for deliverance from terrible enemies, to conquer sickness and death like Tabitha and to book great treasury for our children. We must constantly sow good deeds.
The important question now is this. What if there is nothing written concerning Mordecai in the record of deeds. What if his name is not there?. The disaster that will follow will have consumed him, Queen Esther and all the Jews. Dorcas wouldn't have come back to live without her good deeds. Likewise death sentence would have been issued when King David knew about Mephibosheth existence. Many Christian are suffering here on earth because there is no record of good deeds concerning them. Many children are suffering because there is no fruits of good deeds from their parents. In fact what we termed generation curse are rewards of parental evil deeds. The only way to enjoy full blessings in this world is to keep sowing good deeds. Many of us are praying to God to open book of remembrance concerning us.
But the question remains. If God decide to open the book is your name there? What good have we done to impact others and its recorded in the book of deeds. Most our lives are meaningless because there is nothing God can hold on to to bless us. Poverty remains because we are stingy with little in our hand. No record of scattering. Sickness remains and eventually untimely death because there are no people to intercede for us just like Dorcas. No records in the book of good deeds.
Unfortunately many of us have full record of bitterness, greed, enmity, pride, self-centeredness. etc. These records are useful tools for Satan to cause havoc. Days of trouble can only be shortened or eliminated if the book of record of our deeds is loaded with good works. I will stop here on physical records. But please remember if you can't do good for your sake, do it for the sake of your children. The only way to enjoy full blessings in this world is to keep sowing good deeds. The ultimate purpose of record of deeds is for eternal rewards. God daily is taking records of our activities for the day of final pronouncements of our eternal residence. Physical records of good deeds may go for both believer and unbelievers in Christ Jesus. I mean sinners who are generous can reap reward of generosity here on earth. But for Spiritual records. There is one major qualification before any works can be meaningful. Salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. Whoever's name is not found in the book of life. Every other good deeds will make no sense.
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. How many Christians have their records of deeds in compliance with Matt 25:35-46 above. Nigeria, one of the most religious country in the world. Yet we are world capital of hunger. If you ask me I will say it's not government fault but Christians in the land have empty record of good deeds before God. Many of us will be shocked when God referred to our synagogue/church activities as iniquities and simply point us to that neighbours whose benefits was the reason God saved us. Many will be surprise that with all the titles men placed on them, God never knew them. No record of them at all.
In conclusion brethren, there are both record of physical deeds and record of spiritual deeds. Both command attention of God. Record of physical deeds command God's attention here on earth. While record of spiritual deeds command His attention in heaven. Your physical deeds translate to spiritual deeds when first your name is in the book of life. Therefore to enjoy long life, prosperity, health, deliverance, generational security and blessings good physical deeds is a must. To enjoy greater glory in heaven for eternity years, doing good works as someone recognise by God through the salvation work of Jesus Christ is highly important. We receive grace for good works oh God in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen
