Christianity is a spiritual experience solely built on revelations of our Lord Jesus Christ. Constant exposure to God's word and development therein will guarantee divine peace. Fear the scripture says have torment. Overcoming fear is one major aspect that is very important for Christian to focus on. Scripture also testified that fearful person will not enter the kingdom of God.
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8 KJV
If God could classify being fearful as number one among the list of these terrible, hell qualifying sins, then we as Christian need more revelation of Jesus to stay above fear. It happens that many of us don't know the danger of fear. We are afraid of devil and so many things in this life to the extent that it rubbed us of spiritual revelations and blessings. Let me relate more on fear experienced by disciples in the scripture below. This will expose to us that complete revelation of Jesus Christ is the only cure for fear and also source of perfect peace.
And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them. And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:36-48 KJV
Immediately Jesus appeared in the mist of His disciples after the resurrection, He spoke peace unto them. But because of their state of mind; rather than rejoicing at His presence, they were more afraid and terrified. Jesus was interpreted as ghost. The question is why disciples will ever think like that after everything He told them before going to the cross. The answer is not far from the fact that they allowed worldly principles to mix with revelation of Jesus they had. This resulted in fear.
The general knowledge was that any dead that reappeared must be a ghost. They are mostly terrific to natural man. So even when Jesus was hammering on His resurrection they never expected him; revealing himself as done on different occasions after He rose from the grave. In fact most of them couldn't understand perfectly what Jesus thought about His purpose on earth. All these were responsible for their doubt and fear.
Jesus stepped in to erase their fear so that His peace can abide with them. He revealed more of Himself to the disciples. He explained in accordance with old testament scriptures and prophecies about Himself. When the revelation they got from Jesus Christ was about His physical body parts affected by the incident of death. The bible explained that they were joyful and wondering in unbeleive. Sometimes we understood Jesus at the bodily realms(His earthly ministry). This is not enough to conquer fear and doubt completely. Many of us believed in the exploits of Jesus Christ recorded in the bible, we appreciate the miracles testified by our neighbours, joyful about His wonderful works in the church. But we are doubtful and fearful if same Jesus Christ can do such in our lives.
He opened their eyes further with the mystery of communion. The breaking of body and drinking of His blood. This is a higher revelation of Jesus Christ to conquer fear and restore perfect peace. Any believer who identify with Communion table constantly gain more power to overcome doubt. Such will be in close intimacy with Jesus. Communion open our eyes to the fact that death and grave has been defeated. Thus any Satan's attempt to attack with fear of death or anything will not move us. Jesus broke the bread before the disciples to establish again and again His victory over death, satan and hell. As we constant do communion in memory of Jesus Christ victory; we in turn will have perfect peace and record our own victory too over same.
The last stage of revelation that will give any Christian complete peace is when Jesus Christ himself open our eyes of understanding to the scriptures. Even if we encountered him through revelation of His great signs and wonders in the world, this will produce doutful fear mixed with joy. Also if we meet with Jesus at communion table constantly, we overcome fear of death and hell. But the moment Jesus himself open any man's eyes to complete revelation of Himself as contained in the bible. Such Christian move to fearless life, declare Jesus Christ with boldness, Preaches gospel message without any doubt about its power to save sinners, enjoy perfect peace and escape hell fire which is also made for the fearful.
In conclusion, fear has potential to send us to hell. If fear can make us to change Jesus Christ identity to ordinary ghost, equate him with man or anything. We are loosing out of heaven already. Many spiritual potentials were caged or lost because the carrier have mixed knowledge of Jesus and the world. We are so conscious of physical principles that we abandon spiritual revelations. We are fearful about what to eat, drink and put on at the expense of seeking God's kingdom. The only solution to our state of lives is for Jesus Christ himself to open our eyes of understanding to the revelational knowledge of His words.
Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church. Ephesians 1:16-22 KJV
Constantly praying like Apostle Paul in these Scriptures will bring Jesus Christ presence close to give us complete revelation which will ensure fearless and peaceful life. May we receive grace not to be fearful against. May fear not take us to hell. May perfect peace of God come upon us in Jesus Christ mighty name. Amen
