In this study, we shall briefly search into our heart to see if we are in conformity with the purpose of our callings to be His ambassadors. There is no doubt that our world is filled with so many atrocities even the one that is of higher magnitude when compare with Sodom and Gomorrah. Many of us wonder why so many Christian denominations of all kinds from Catholics to Orthodox, Protestants, Pentecostals and Charismatic movements. But it seems the more we build chapels the more sinners increase. The questions is do we understand our purpose of calling. Do we know why Christ set us apart. What we see around is religious competition and structural ego. I am of Paul, I am of Apollo; why Satan keep populating hell with souls of men. These religion disparity; a satanic weapon was so active on Christian fold that one group see others as imperfect or sinners why they acclaimed holiness to themselves. Why we concentrate effort on this, our neighbours, family, friends and the world at large suffer from sin and hell daily.
What exactly is our purpose of calling? If we focus on this purpose will there be time to for unnecessary religious rituals? Will there be time to condemn someone who uses different method or approach for soul winning? If the purpose is clear, are we still going to lock ourselves away from the world inside our cathedrals. Will there still be misplaced priority focusing on the saints; but forsake the sinners. What is this purpose let us ask ourselves again and again maybe if we have the understanding, it will help us to access if we are truly working for God.
Friends, our purpose is to serve in the vineyard of God for one singular purpose of soul winning. John 15:16 emphatically told us our purpose here on earth is to bring forth fruit and ensure the fruit remains. Jesus further told us that the harvest is ripe but labourers are few. He also said to the disciples that there are others who belong to the fold but are still mixed with the world. Our responsibility is therefore as simple as go out to the world to find these fruits, harvests and other members of the fold. Jesus knew these category of harvest are still in their unprocessed state. In fact they most time have same appearance of worldly wickedness and pleasure in them which makes it difficult to call them the harvest of God. But we must patiently like any farmer looking for harvest go into the field to get them raw. Let us look at Jesu's example and the condemnation he received from leaders who are only moved by law without understanding of grace.
And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Mark 2:14-17 KJV
Here Jesus was out in the field looking for harvest( Souls to save). He meet Levi who was a tax collector. People knew at this time the level of sin and evil been perpetrated by this group of officers. In fact the leadership of the synagogues do not want people to associate with them because they are terrible sinners. In our environment today we have people of all careers and groups who are in this same state of Levi. The drunkards, prostitutes, thieves, idolatrous, atheist, wicked politicians and sorts of evil doers. The leadership of the Church; who operates under the law like the Pharisees also warned believer to stay away from these people. But Jesus clearly demonstrated that they are the reason we are called into ministry. How can we run away from our divine assignment? If these people are not reach out to, what then is our calling.
Does Jesus really not care about already saved souls as His answer suggested."They that are whole have no need of physician". Jesus of course cares for them by equipping them with power and authority to also become soul winners. It is a big error for our ministry today to focus on ourselves without going out to seek for the lost souls. If our leadership in church is not for the purpose of raising soul winners, we are only wasting time. When Jesus Christ finished with all his disciples. The became world changers. Their development at no point stopped Jesus from His major assignment of harvesting souls from perishing world.
Whoever is discouraging you from deliberately friendship with sinner for the sake of harvesting his/her soul is not a good leader. Such person is simply asking you to stop your divine assignment. Why are Christian afraid that sinners will return them back to sin when the God who send you to sinners is right there with you. Apostle Paul said he became everything just to save some souls for Jesus. In fact when Jesus made same move he was termed sinner.
Brethren, Immediately Jesus saved a soul such person automatically enlists as soul winner in God's agenda. The world is in darkness because many Christian didn't know that we are saved to save others. Many who should be on the field evangelising are in the church building tied to the aprons of their so called father in the Lord. Their father in the Lord couldn't do much to reach out because they remain burden to him. They refused to grow to the point of understanding that they too must have records of souls to enter heaven. Program upon programs for saved souls why sinners are dying in wickedness without any one to preach the gospel to them.
A farmer who left his own farm not harvested but spending energy and time commending a working farmer is a great fool. Many men of God we called father have labored and are still labouring for souls. But we are there showering commendation on then when we are suppose to bow our knees in prayers asking God to show us our field to harvest. Don't be deceived friends that you sing to the saints, acts as ushers where saints are gathered, encourage the saints with prophetic utterances and intercessory prayers is not enough sir/ma. Jesus nurtured saints but seek sinners as major priority. Those saints we think we served in church have direct access to Holy Spirit for divine nurturing.
Until we begin to use our gathering together to fellowship with each other instead of thinking we are doing service to God. Until we gather like disciples in Acts of Apostle chapter 2 and 3 to give testimonies of our exploits among the unbelievers world. Until our prayer is for God's empowerment to launch into field for souls harvest. Until our discussion is how to pair ourselves to groups of soul winners and ready to use all our resources to do the great commission. We are just the same as Pharisees, Sadducees, High Priest, Scribes who only are legalistic in pursuit of God. Until we change our way from self righteousness which create stumbling block to our effort. Until we embrace sinner as our divine duty as Christians. We are wasting away without fulfilling the great commission.
